On Saturday, I attended my first ever blogger meet-up! 9 of us from the Chicago area met at Seasons 52 in Schaumburg. It was truly a great experience to meet a group with so many similar interests (health & food – yay!).
From Left to Right:
- Lisa & Maria – Healthy Diaries
- Melissa – Food & Such
- Jessica – Bright Eyes & Bushy Tales
- Chelsey – Clean Eating Chelsey
- Marisa – Mind Over Booty
- Stefanie (in front) – The New Healthy
- Sara – Sara Runs
- & Me
I was really nervous at the start and wonder if my voice might have even cracked. As the meal went on though, I felt more and more comfortable. My favorite moment of the lunch was when the waiter asked if anyone wanted to see the vegetarian menu and about 5 of us raised our hands!
Seasons 52 is really great about accommodating any kind of dietary need, and they make healthy eating easy – every item on the menu is under 475 calories. About half of the table, myself included, ordered the Farmer’s Market Vegetable Plate which was full of seasonal vegetables, including golden beets and a roasted tomato along with glazed tofu and a delicious minted tabbouleh. The balanced meal on Season’s 52’s Vegetable Plate was a refreshing change, compared to the countless places I’ve been where the vegetable plate was just a bunch of steamed vegetables with no protein or carbs.
After lunch, a smaller group of us went to Red Mango for Frozen Yogurt. The Woodfield Mall location of Red Mango was especially fun because it was self-serve. There were 6 flavors of yogurt to choose from and countless toppings. I felt much more comfortable in the setting of the smaller group and was sad that the time flew by so fast.
I could say a lot more about both Seasons 52 and Red Mango, but my new blogger friends did such a great job of writing about it and photographing it that I hope you’ll check out their blogs instead, using the links above. While you’re viewing their blogs, expect lots of motivation for healthy & delicious living!
A big Thank You to Stefanie from The New Healthy for coordinating the meet-up which was such a wonderful afternoon!
