If I were stranded on a Desert Island and could only choose ONE food to eat there, it would be Beans! Thanks to Fiber, Protein, and Carbohydrates they are a healthy, low-fat way to stay full. I currently try to eat at least 1 serving of beans a day, whether I toss them in a grain or pasta-salad, mash them to create a sandwich filling, or even blend them into smoothies or breakfast parfaits.
So when The Good Bean contacted me asking if I’d like to sample their entire product line of Roasted Chickpeas and Bean-filled Bars, of course I said YES! I’ve been looking for more healthy snack options and 1 serving of their Roasted Chickpeas contains as much fiber as 2 cups of broccoli and as much protein as an egg!
I’d already tried and loved their Smoky Chili & Lime Chickpeas thanks to the Weird, Wild & Wonderful themed Love with Food Box I ordered, and the rest of their products lived up to my high expectations.
Roasted Chickpea Snacks
My only regret is that I wish I had gotten more creative when sampling the Chickpeas. The Good Bean website has a lot of great ideas including sprinkling the Sweet Cinnamon chickpeas on yogurt, the Smoky Chili & Lime flavor on guacamole, or the Cracked Pepper version over a Greek Salad. If you enjoy Chickpea Croutons or Mama Pea’s Chickpea Strawberry Mango Salad these would be a perfect Short-Cut.
Instead, I just ate them right out of the bag, which wasn’t boring at all. Both the Roasted Chickpeas and the Bars made for great snacks at the office and on the go, like on my visit to the Garfield Park Conservatory with my Mom, Sister, & Niece.
Of the Roasted Chickpeas, the Chili Lime flavor is still my favorite, but the Cracked Pepper & Sweet Cinnamon were really delicious. I even found myself eating all the peppery crumbly bits from the bottom of the Cracked Pepper Bag. Although they have “Sweet” in the name, the Sweet Cinnamon flavor was only lightly sweetened, which made it perfect for snacking on at any time of the day. The Sea Salt chickpeas surprisingly tasted exactly like Roasted Edamame, another snack I’ve frequently purchased.
Fruit & NO-NUT Bars
The Good Bean Fruit & NO-NUT bars are another great snack option. These were sweeter and seemed slightly more processed than the Roasted Chickpeas, but I loved them nonetheless. Please note that while these are also Gluten-Free, only the Trail-Mix flavor is Dairy-Free. The Chocolate Berry and Apricot Coconut flavors have a tiny amount of milk in the Dark Chocolate and White Chocolate (Nutrition & Ingredients).
The Chocolate Berry and Apricot Coconut flavors were as delicious as they sound, but surprisingly, my favorite flavor was actually the Trail-Mix. Usually Trail-Mix flavored bars have a pretty basic taste, but this bar was anything but. The entire bar had a bright fruity flavor, perhaps because of the Pineapple-sweetened Cranberries in the bar.
